Ministry Division Awards to
Doud, Bascom, DiBiasio-Snyder, Stapleton

The Division for Ministry annually honors men and women who have made outstanding contributions to the Congregational Ministry. The 2001 awards and their recipients:

Harry R. Butman Award, named for “mister Congregationalism,” founder of the NACCC, writer, pastor, still active in his 98th year–to the Rev. Terry Bascom (Congregational Church of Bound Brook, New Jersey) and the Rev. Dr. John F. Doud (left) (Arbor Grove, Michigan, Congregational Church).

Jennette S. Butman Award, named for the late wife of the Rev. Dr. Harry R. Butman, honoring women in the ministry or ordained by virtue of marriage to a clergy person–to Evelyn Deinstadt (right) (First Congregational Church, Cheyenne, Wyoming), widow of the Rev. Dr. Leslie Deinstadt, also one of the founders of the NACCC.
Sermon Award, given for a sermon judged relevant in content and logical in presentation–to the Rev. Ralph DiBiasio-Snyder (right) (First Congregational Church, Oshkosh, Wisconsin).
John W. Claxton Award, named for the first dean of the Congregational Foundation for Theological Studies (CFTS)–to Rev. Shawn Stapleton (right) (First Congregational Church, Beloit, Wisconsin).
