The 2002 National Association of Pilgrim Fellowship (NAPF) conference held at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA was a great success. The Rev. Chris Rygh (Wauwatosa, Wisconsin) led us on a QUEST toward Discipleship. Each letter of the QUEST represented a different topic that Chris spoke about each day. Chris is an amazing story teller and had the audience focused and following him. He also involved various youth from around the country in his talks. |

We completed a modified spiritual gifts inventory and talked about how our spiritual gifts can help us contribute within our churches and in our own spiritual journey. In small groups we also created a banner that we added to each time we met. This included a linear "map" of our lives to now, our spiritual gifts, things we wanted to improve within ourselves as we strive for better discipleship, and those who we going to tell about this awesome event when we return home. The banner activity allowed each of us to participate at our own level whether it be through art or words. The NAPF conference also participated in a day long mission projects where each small group was sent to locations within the city. The places we worked included sorting 15,000 pounds of food for the food bank, painting fences, clearing brush, cleaning a soup kitchen, sorting an attic full of toys, playing with children at an at-risk shelter, and yard work. Everyone returned feeling a sense of accomplishment and the reward of helping someone in need. It was an awesome day. |

The conference this year had a neat perspective in taking us all from where we were individually in our spiritual journey and helping us extend that walk just a bit further. Chris has a unique talent in welcoming us where we are and making us feel comfortable with that as well as guiding us to strengthen our own spirituality. We hope that you all come back to see us in Virginia next year and if you haven’t been to an NAPF, give it a try, it’s an awesome experience for high school youth from around the country.
